Overview

The interest in ‘everything Aerospace’ is a particular source of motivation for IPSA and the passion is shared by both students and lecturers. Since its creation in 1961, IPSA has been driven by the constant concern to match the training provided to students with the needs of companies.

The Master in Aeronautical Engineering is a full-time 2-year program starting every September and taking place in the Parisian Campus (Ivry-sur-Seine). It is rewarded with master’s engineering degree recognized internationally. In France this degree is called diplôme d’ingénieur and it is delivered by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur, the highest official engineering commission in France.

LEARNING APPROACH

The master program is based on a balance between academic and practical activities: lectures, tutorials, seminars, design consultancy, projects related to industrial environments, and internships. The student is the main actor in their training by choosing a major and different options allowing them to personalize their courses and obtain expertise in a field of their choice.

Business conferences and international openness provide additional skills in building student’s critical thinking and ability to make decisions.

CURRICULUM

4 semesters of 30 ECTS (European credits) each

2 majors: Vehicles and Signals&Systems

In the first semester, students choose one major guided by our professors and according to their previous formation.

In the second semester, each student chooses among 5 options of study, according to their major.

In the third semester, each student chooses among 8 options of study, according to their major and their previous option choice.

Have a look at the following table (from bottom to top):

Apart from these options, there are also common core courses mandatory for all students.

INTERNSHIPS

As the program is conceived according to the French system, it also includes 2 mandatory internships

  • the first internship takes place at the end of the first year and lasts 8 weeks minimum.
  • the second internship takes place in the last semester and it lasts 6 months. It will most likely lead the student to their first job.

LANGUAGE

The master is mainly taught in English. Some courses are taught in French from the second semester.

All along the program, students benefit from intensive French language courses as you must reach an intermediate level in French at the end of the study years in order to obtain the degree.

Knowing French is not mandatory when applying, but it can be an advantage

LIFE AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AT IPSA

International students are accompanied at all times before and during their studies at IPSA.

In fact, IPSA has a 2-star ‘Bienvenue en France’ certification issued by Campus France which attests that we have a high level in welcoming and accompanying international students.

There is also an International Student Association at IPSA that organizes cultural and social events for our international students all along the academic year.

Every international student has an IPSA Buddy – an elder student that will help with tips and integration.

All in all, student life at IPSA is very dynamic and diverse due to our more than 70 student clubs from different domains (technical, cultural, professional, sports or humanitarian clubs).
